  • The fateful spot where many have stood! I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen one of you there before. =)

Thanks for your work here and wishing you and the family a merry Christmas and happy new year.

  • And a Very Merry Christmas to you.

  • Merry Christmas to you and yours, Kevin. Thanks for all the goodies this year.

  • Happy Holidays! Hope Santa was good to you.

  • Hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas Kevin.

  • Melbo – Thanks so much. I hope your family had a great Christmas too.

Dan – Thanks! I hope Christmas went well for you.

John – Thanks so much too. You have the best Houdini site out there.

Joe – I hope there was something “Grim” under your tree this year. ;)

Tracy – Where the heck have you been? I haven’t heard from you in so long. I hope you finally found that set of Culliton books by now. :)

Happy New Year to all. I hope you all find the Houdini piece you want in 2013.

  • Great picture, great day, and a blessed Christmas; nice house, but I wouldn’t want to live there, sorry Harry!!!

  • Not to live there, just house the Houdini there. :)

  • Happy New Year Kevin!

Did you knock on the door?
    Did you peek inside?
Did you knock and run like we used to do as kids?

  • Happy New Year Leo!

    What is the verse about?

  • They’re not verses. Just questions that I arranged in 1, 2, 3 order. Wouldn’t it have been fun if you had knocked on the door and you said “Package for a Mr. Harry Houdini”?

  • Ah, okay. I’m a little slow on the uptake. There was a janitor working outside and there were people home. I didn’t want to bother them.

  • “Things said here can be heard!”

  • You ain’t kidding David.

  • I suspect that the people who currently live in 278 are used to Houdini fans walking up the front stoop to snap photos and whatnot.
I would love to take a walk in that house and feel those Houdini vibes that still reverberate in there.

  • Maybe not. There is a steel gate around the front of the house now.

  • Kevin–
Did you jump over that steel gate in the spirit of Houdini? Were you trespassing when you had that photo taken? Oh, oh.

  • No, The janitor said it was okay. I was inside the house about 30 years ago though.

  • Kevin–
You were inside the house 30 years ago? Why didn’t you say something? What was it like? I understand that it’s dark in there. Lots of dark wood paneling and tapestries. I wish somebody would do a CGI image of the inside of that house.

I got it! Suit up like one of the janitors and walk into the house with a mop over your shoulder.

  • As I remember it, it was for sale at the time too. I think the asking price was $185,000 back then. I only got as far as the front part of the hallway. And yes, the wood was dark.

  • Kevin–
I noticed a surveillance camera in this photo right over your head above the front doors. It appears to be one of those 360 degree cameras you see almost everywhere you go like in supermarkets, banks, and on the sides of buildings.

You were spotted long before you walked up those stairs.

  • I guess so. I could just say I was dropping off some of Houdini’s mail that was delivered to my house over the years. :)
